March on

I have mixed feelings about today's historic Climate Change March through Midtown Manhatten.

Close to half a million people walked peacefully through streets normally congested with traffic.

As a social movement it was a fantastic opportunity to shoot a large group of colourful, animated people.

I am a firm believer that collective consciousness can bring about positive change.

I see the march’s benefits, especially for scientists, environmentalists and indigenous peoples who are presently in

NYC for a UN climate summit.

But it all felt very vague. What the march actually accomplishes remains to be seen.

In Canada, climate change is a largely acceptable phenomena. Skeptics abound in the US.

If nothing else, today's march is a symbolic gesture that shows the US government and

policy makers that eroding coastlines, rising water levels and hurricanes are already

negatively impacting peoples lives and livelihoods.

John Mckay - All I can say is wow !!! Can't imagine that many people in one place for the same cause..
..the power of numbers!

I am very pleased to see that once again climate change is in the forefront of peoples' collective conscious. The impacts of climate change are global and need to be addressed NOW,if not for the sake of future generations..

Thanks for sharing this and awesome capture !!
