Film photography

Different film speeds combined with different developers produces images of varying grain and contrast.

I have yet to find the combination that will be my thumbprint.

Right now I am pushing 400 film, which works well on overcast days when the light is flat.

Pushing to 1600 allows for shooting in low light conditions without a flash, such as the subway.

I have yet to find my "sweet spot": the perfect combination of camera, film, developer, enlarger and paper.

These images were shot with Ilford HP5 400, developed with Microphen and scanned as digital images.

The only reason I scanned them is I was in the DML (Digital Media Lab) and had a bit of extra time.

Otherwise, film negatives are best printed in the darkroom.
