I create cameraless images using light‑sensitive emulsions made from boreal petals and berries, and the occasional store-bought perishable. The long exposures take days to weeks, allowing the work to be shaped by outdoor elements as by my own hand. They are about the marriage of environment and chemistry. The plant‑based emulsions register not only bleached out images but the slow passage of time, which aligns with my interest in ritual the subtle transformations of northern life. Each year I participate in the Emulsion Experimentation project led by Sweden’s Malin Fabbri of Alternative Photography, an annual initiative that expands a shared database of eco‑friendly photographic emulsions. Being part of this project connects me to an international network of artists and broadens my understanding about sustainable photography.
